Striker Edward Kizza has joined USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC on loan from Major League Soccer (MLS) club New England Revolution.

Kizza will play for Memphis 901 in the second tier league for the remainder of the 2022 season.

For starters, Kizza was born in Kampala and moved to the United States at the age of 14.

The 23 year old striker is a young brother to former Cranes defender Henry Kalungi and former SC Villa and URA FC CEO Ivan Kakembo.

He joined New England Revolution from Pittsburgh University Panthers in 2021 but had playing time hard to come his way.

Kizza made 11 appearances in the MLS but also featured the New England Revolution second team in the third tier (League One) and scored five games in 12 games.

He becomes the third Ugandan in the USA second tier (USL Championship) after Steven Sserwadda of New York Red Bulls II and former Cranes midfielder Mike Azira who plays for New Mexico United.

His new side, Memphis 901 was founded in 2018 and host their league games at the AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee.

Former Manchester United and USA goalkeeper Tim Howard is one of the three club owners and also serves as the team’s Sporting Director.

The USL Championship is a professional soccer league in the United States that in 2011 placed under Major League Soccer (Division I) in the hierarchy.
