The former Uganda Cranes midfielder Micheal Azira has been named as the new Head Coach of United Soccer League Two outfit Brilla FC in the USA.

The club management announced the development via its official website on Tuesday but did not disclose the duration of his tenure.

Azira had been named first assistant for Brilla following his retirement from professional football under Matt Horth who left the side for collegiate soccer.

“Fortunately, we have Mike Azira ready to step into the role, and he is more than capable of leading us to make a run at the national championship this summer.” reads in part the Club’s statement.

Azira is expected to manage his first game in charge of his boyhood Club on the road against Texas United away from home.

Azira retired from the National Team in 2021 and finally hang the boots from professional football last December.

He played over seven years in the US top tier, Major League Soccer. He briefly served as head coach of Blue Mountain College.
