In a dramatic transfer coup, SC Villa, the dominant force in the Uganda Premier League, has secured the coveted signature of talented midfielder Misi Diego Semugera, leaving rival club Wakiso Giants in the dust. The record Uganda Premier League champions have added to their already formidable squad with the acquisition of the 23-year-old midfielder, who joins them on a three-year contract.

Semugera’s impressive performances for Police FC caught the attention of several top clubs, making him one of the most sought-after players in the league. However, SC Villa proved to be the most persuasive, securing the young midfielder’s services on a free contract and edging out fierce competition from Wakiso Giants.

The midfielder’s impact on the pitch was undeniable during his time at Police FC, particularly in their run to the Stanbic Uganda Cup final. Although they narrowly missed out on the title after a 1-0 loss to Vipers, Semugera’s exceptional displays earned him the title of the tournament’s best midfielder, further elevating his profile.

Prosper Sports Agency played a pivotal role in facilitating Semugera’s transfer to SC Villa. The agency, which represents the talented player, has previously facilitated another successful move to SC Villa with Denis Ojara’s transfer from Onduparaka. Semugera’s decision to follow in Ojara’s footsteps reflects the appeal of joining the prestigious club under Prosper’s representation.

The midfielder’s journey to his dream move was not without obstacles. Initially, his father, an ardent fan, was hesitant about the idea of him joining SC Villa’s sworn rivals. However, Semugera’s unwavering determination to join the club he admired and his persuasion skills eventually convinced his father of the immense opportunity this move presented for his career.

SC Villa’s ambitions didn’t end with Semugera’s signing. The club has further fortified their ranks with the addition of two other talented players, defender Peter Onzima and goalkeeper Norman Angufidru, both of whom have made a strong impression during their training with the team.

Onzima’s experience, gained from his previous stints with Busoga United and BUL FC, is expected to bring stability and resilience to Villa’s defense. Meanwhile, Angufidru, who showcased his goalkeeping prowess at Onduparaka after joining from Calvary, is seen as a promising replacement for the departing Martin Elungat. His prior experiences at IUIU in the University Football League and Mvara Boys have proven him to be a reliable shot-stopper.

As SC Villa gears up for the upcoming 2023/24 season, the club’s fans are buzzing with excitement over the new acquisitions. Semugera, Onzima, and Angufidru are seen as potential game-changers who could lead SC Villa to reclaim their former glory and cement their status as the top contenders in the Uganda Premier League.
