In a hugely entertaining match of the university football league. Nkumba university stunned St Lawrence University (SLAU) with a 3-1 victory at the Beach boys Arena in Entebbe on Tuesday.

In the reverse fixture, SLAU were victorious with 3 goals to 1 when they hosted Nkumba.

Irivai Obuto Mamur brace and a Kennedy Ssewankambo captain goal for Nkumba sealed the win for the hosts to secure 3 valuable points for the beach boys.

Nkumba headed into the second tie with St. Lawrence university with 7 points in group E and needed the win to improve their chances of getting into the knockout stages. With this win they are now 10 points in the group and St Lawrence has 12 points.

The visitors were the first on the score sheet with Abula scoring the header in the 4th minute. The hosts levelled with Mamur in the 32nd minute and then scoring another in the 40th minute before the second half.

In the 94th minute before the final whistle, skipper Ssewankambo Kennedy extended Nkumba’s lead to secure all the 3 points.

Meanwhile on Saturday, in another Group E fixture, Gulu University edged International University of East Africa 1-0.

St. Lawrence will take on Gulu University next week while welcome International University of East Africa.
