The Ugandan contingent returned triumphantly on Monday from Muscat, Oman, following their participation in the FISU World University Cross Country Championship. Among them, Seth Akampa, a 23-year-old student from Bishop Stuart University, emerged victorious by securing a gold medal in the 10,000-meter finals.

Clocking an impressive time of 29 minutes and 12 seconds, Akampa crossed the finish line, adding his name to the prestigious list of Ugandan champions alongside Joshua Cheptegei, Winnie Nanyondo, and Dismas Yeko, who have previously claimed this title.

Upon their arrival at Entebbe International Airport, the team received a warm welcome from officials representing the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS), Bishop Stuart University, and the national athletics body.

Reflecting on his remarkable achievement, Akampa attributed his success to the dedicated efforts of both himself and his coaches in preparing for the competition. “My success is a result of the hard work and dedication invested in training by myself and my coaches,” Akampa stated in an interview with this website.
