Jean Sseninde United SC are off to a good start in their preparations for the 2024 Makindye Fifth Division season. The Red Ants defeated Bunga FC 2-1 in a friendly game on Friday.

Two goals were enough to secure the win for the Red Ants at the Salama based grounds. Bunga FC struck one back but were unable to cancel the lead until the end of regulation time.

Manager Jean Sseninde was upbeat about the team’s season while summing up her team’s performance.

“Such games are meant to help the boys build cohesion and momentum, we can try a few things during friendlies, and we did well today, I hope we can go on to have a good season. Our goal is to earn promotion to the first division, but we can not get ahead of ourselves. We have only made year together as a together,” Sseninde noted.

Sseninde further revealed : “So we are focusing on building a squad and a group of players that’s sustainable and will help us build a culture as the Red Ants”

With a few signings brought in to bolster the squad, Sseninde hopes to bring in more “experienced players in the squad” to brighten their chances of qualification especially in the final third.

The league is set to kickoff in December according to the tentative dates.
