The Pepsi University Football League (UFL) kicked off its eleventh season on Tuesday with an efflux of goals as teams aimed to secure an early advantage of proceedings. The UFL has produced 15 goals in only four games so far. Defending Champions Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi thumped Bugema University 3 goals to 1 in the  season opener. The Ssekyondo Independence Cup returned for it’s second edition, in Entebbe Municipality. The competition which features men’s football and women’s netball will see Entebbe Division B village teams go head to head for glory. A total of 10 teams are pitted in two groups of five, and the winners of these groups will face off in a final bout ahead of the October 9th independence celebrations. The Pepsi University Football League (UFL) is set to return for an eleventh season. The UFL is to start this September through May to align with the University academic calendar. Group stages will be played out until December and return in February 2024 for the knock-out stages. Over the years the outfit has muscled up to become one of Entebbe Sub-District’s most important events on the sporting calendar. The sought out event will be headlined by tree planting efforts in a bid to offset climate change. Following a successful campaign against Gender Based Violence last year, Swans Rugby Football Club Entebbe is set to bring awareness to breast cancer on the 30th of September 2023. A total of 20 teams are expected to take part in the maiden one day Breast Cancer awareness Tournament to be held at Coco Beach.
