Hundreds of revellers and corporates thronged the Works Playground, Namate in Entebbe Municipality for the September outing of the 7th Entebbe Corporate League (ECL) on Sunday.

The Tournament features Uganda Civil Aviation (UCAA), Children’s Surgical Hospital, DAS Handling Services, Entebbe Police Corporate Team, Entebbe Journalists Association, National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), Paddy O’ganda Irish Bar, Katabi Busambaga Youth Development Association (KABUSYDA), Beeline Medical Services, Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, Kampala Executive Aviation (KEA) and Entebbe Young Academy (EYA).

ECL chairperson, Ronald Onzima underscored the importance of using sports as a vehicle to drive development and fostering pro-environment mindsets.

“As we get together to enjoy different sports disciplines, we saw it prudent to use the platform to save the planet, and take responsibility for our carbon footprints, with this drive we can be able to nurture a generation that will conserve the earth for posterity,”

UCAA are on top of matters in football with 16 points in six games, while Paddy O’ganda leads the table in volleyball with 25 points across two outings and DAS Handling Services are ahead in Netball with 25 points to their name.

Defending Champions, NARO are yet to regain last term’s spectacular form as they find themselves in the bottom half of the logs across different disciplines.

Entebbe Police Corporate Team will be a force to reckon with, as they lie in the second place berth in volleyball and netball, and sixth in football.

Debutants, EYA, Paddy O’ganda, Children’s Surgical Hospital, UPPC, Beeline and KABUSYDA have had a fair share of a different turn of fortunes. Some have been able to settle in easily while others are still grappling with form.

KEA has been able to register a decent start to life in the ECL. They find themselves in third place in football, sixth in volleyball and seventh in Netball.

Scribes based in Entebbe under the Entebbe Journalists Association were in spirited form winning all 3 matches of the day in football, and volleyball defeating Beeline Medical Services and NARO to take up the fifth place on the log.
